Civil Rights TimelineThe Civil Rights Movement was a time in American history of social unrest. African Americans were treated differently, especially in Southern states. They were not allowed to ride next to whites on buses, not allowed to drink from the same water fountains as whites, not allowed to eat in the same restaurants, nor go to the same schools as whites. They were denied other things like the right to vote. They were tired of being separated from whites. African Americans began fighting for equality all over America.
